Tango Workshop in Rio Grande Valley

Angela Avila and Stephen Shortnacy teach a social Argentine tango workshop in the Rio Grande Valley.

Argentine Tango is an intimate and improvisational social dance that grew out of the barrios of Buenos Aries in the early 1900s. It was reintroduced to the rest of the world in the mid-80s.   With foundations that exist in the connection of the embrace and musicality of the rhythm, the dance continues to evolve from the traditional music and styles.

About Angela Avila & Stephen Shortnacy

Class with Angela and Stephen explore the technique behind fundamental tango elements that allow you to expand your dance abilities for the social dance floor.  Class topics begin with easy concepts of movement and proceed to more challenging combinations of basic concepts.

Angela Avila expresses her creativity through many forms of dance but her passion is with tango.  This passion has lead her across the world to study and dance with the masters.  She has performed on numerous occasions and now teaches in San Antonio.

Stephen Shortnacy has taught tango with his wife, Mardi, for over two years. Both share their knowledge of the dance with others in the local community by teaching beginner and intermediate classes in Georgetown, Austin and beyond.
